Slacklining is surprisingly adaptable to people of all ages and body types which makes it an incredible tool to bring the entire family together. The most important thing is that you setup your slackline at a height, length and tension that is suitable for your level. If you recently had an injury, you might want to double check with a health professional before going back on the line. But at a certain point in your healing process, slacklining can be an amazing tool to heal yourself and rebuild your core strength.
From what I have seen over the years, it takes most people 15 minutes to 1 hour to learn how to take control of the line. That might mean simply standing on 1 or 2 feet or making a few steps. But time is irrelevant in the slackline world and everyone has their own rhythm. Obviously, if you are already an athlete, you might learn faster. But I believe everyone should focus on their own journey and forget about everyone around. If you are spending any amount of time with your slackline, I call this a success and you can be proud of yourself for showing up and trying. There is no end to the game, so take your time and enjoy every step of the way!
There is simply no doubt. I have seen it over and over. People are able to stand and walk much faster with some pro tips, right from the first day. After all those years teaching beginners, I can assure you that professional tips will save you a significant amount of time and energy. Not only will you learn faster, but you will develop helpful habits right away that will pay-off for the rest of your slacklife! A lot of people who start on their own end-up giving up before they discover their true potential or will develop bad habits that have a negative impact on their posture in the long run and they will eventually need to unlearn and relearn... if they are lucky enough to become aware of those habits.
